Welcome to our 8 Days Tour from Fes to Marrakech, where you will embark on a magnificent journey through Morocco’s breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage. This slow-paced tour is designed to provide you with a unique and immersive experience, allowing you to discover the imperial cities of Fes and Marrakech, traverse the majestic Atlas Mountains, and explore the stunning Sahara Desert. Over the course of eight days, you’ll discover the hidden gems of Morocco, including the picturesque Ziz Valley, the dramatic Todra Gorge, and the charming Berber villages and historic kasbahs. You’ll also experience the traditional Moroccan lifestyle and hospitality, ride camels through the golden sand dunes, and sleep under the stars in a traditional desert camp.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN MOROCCO AND TRANSFER TO FES

If you are unable to land at Fes International Airport, you can still embark on our amazing 8 days tour from Fes to Marrakech by arriving at Casablanca International Airport or Rabat International Airport. Our knowledgeable driver guide will transfer you directly to Fes, the historic city at the heart of Morocco. After your arrival, you will enjoy a delicious dinner and a comfortable overnight stay at a local Riad/Hotel in the heart of the Medina, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the local culture and atmosphere.

DAY 2: DISCOVER THE BEST OF FES SIGHTSEEING

After enjoying a delicious breakfast, you will embark on a journey to explore the rich history and culture of Fes, known as the spiritual city of Morocco. Your guided tour of Fes will take you to various monuments and landmarks, including the old city medina with its unique architecture, the Jewish Quarter (Mellah), and the Dar El Makhzen or Royal Palace featuring colorful mosaic architecture and golden doors. You will also visit the famous Chaouwara Tanneries, the Kairaouine Mosque (one of the oldest universities in the world), the Najjarine Marble Fountain, and Al-Attarine Madrassa, a religious school showcasing impressive Islamic architecture. The Bou Inania Medersa, one of the most beautiful theological colleges in Fes, is also included in the itinerary.

You’ll have a break for lunch in a local Moroccan restaurant before continuing to explore the medina’s streets and markets, including the Bab Boujloud archway with its stunning blue and green mosaic design. Later, you’ll head to a panoramic spot for a breathtaking view of the sprawling Fes El-Bali medina. You’ll return to the same Riad in the medina for dinner and an overnight stay.

DAY 3: VISIT IFRANE, CEDAR FOREST, MID,ELT, ATLAS MOUNTAINS, ZIZ VALLEY AND MERZOUGA

After a delicious breakfast, we embark on a journey through the picturesque Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping first in the charming city of Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco.” Our next stop will be at the Cedar Forest near Azrou, where we can observe Barbary macaques in their natural habitat. We will then proceed to Midelt, a renowned apple-growing town, where we will enjoy a free lunch break. In the afternoon, we continue our drive towards the Sahara Desert, passing by the beautiful Ziz Valley and small Berber villages before reaching the city of Errachidia. We’ll then traverse the breathtaking Tizi N’talghoumte pass (1907m) on our way to Merzouga, passing through Aoufous and Erfoud. After a two-hour drive, we’ll finally reach the stunning Erg-Chebbi sand dunes, where we will have dinner and spend the night in a cozy local hotel or Riad.

DAY 4: FROM MERZOUGA LAKE TO THE NOMAD FAMILY AND CAMEL TREKKING IN THE SAHARA

After breakfast, we’ll embark on a journey around Erg-Chebbi’s sand dunes. We’ll discover various fascinating locations, such as Merzouga Lake, which isn’t always filled with water but is a habitat for different bird species, particularly ducks and flamingos, who flock to the lake in the spring. We’ll also visit Khamliya village, where locals of African origin play traditional Gnawa music. Following this, we’ll continue our off-road desert tour to the black desert situated behind Erg-Chebbi’s sand dunes. Along the way, we’ll stop by an abandoned village where minerals are excavated, and then drive to a nomadic Berber family’s settlement to witness their way of life.

We’ll return to Khamliya for a scrumptious lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we’ll embark on a Camel Trekking Adventure across the stunning, uniquely orange-colored sand dunes to reach our desert campsite. It’ll be an unforgettable experience where you can rejuvenate your soul and bask in the breathtaking sunset from the heart of the dunes. We’ll have dinner and spend the night at the campsite, with music and the opportunity to play on the sand dunes beneath a canopy of twinkling stars.

DAY 5: DISCOVERING THE DESERT FROM MERZOUGA TO OUARZAZATE VIA RISSANI, TINGHIR, AND DADES VALLEYS

The following morning, it’s recommended to rise early and witness the lovely sunrise. After enjoying breakfast and a refreshing shower, we’ll make our way back to Merzouga village either by camel ride or vehicle before departing for Rissani town. Here, we’ll stroll through the famous and largest traditional market in the area, exploring the locally-made goods and handicrafts. The ideal days to visit Rissani are Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday, as these are market days, making it a perfect opportunity for desert-dwelling locals to shop.

Later, we’ll continue our journey to Tinghir along the Tafilalt Oasis, where we can pause and observe the ancient irrigation system in use there. Then, we’ll head to Tinjdad town, where we’ll have free time to indulge in lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll arrive in Tinghir to explore the breathtaking vistas of the Todra valley and trek through the Todra Gorge. With its orange towering cliffs and 1,000-foot deep canyons, Todra Gorge is a preferred spot for climbers.

Finally, we’ll end our day in Ouarzazate by driving through the Dades Valley, the “road of 1,000 Kasbahs,” and the land of roses in Kalaat M’Gonna town. Before checking into our hotel or riad for relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay, we’ll stop to capture some photographs of the stunning architecture of Kasbah Taourirte.

DAY 6: TRAVERSE THE HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS ON YOUR JOURNEY FROM OUARZAZATE TO MARRAKECH

After breakfast, we’ll head to the world-renowned Atlas Studios cinema in Ouarzazate. Our journey then takes us to the ancient Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a fortified walled city built on the caravan path between Marrakech and the Sahara, and once a thriving trading post in the 17th century. Within its high mud walls are six Kasbahs and a small number of homes. Ait Benhaddou has appeared in numerous films, including Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia.

We’ll then drive to Marrakech via the stunning Ounila Valley, passing through Berber villages before reaching Telouet village. Here, we’ll visit the Telouet Kasbah, which was built in the 18th and 19th centuries for the powerful El Glaoui family. The Kasbah’s strategic location on the caravan trail, coupled with its colorful mosaics and red stucco, makes it a rare sight to behold. We’ll pause to enjoy a local lunch before continuing our journey through the Atlas Passes. Along the way, we’ll make stops to take in the breathtaking views of the Atlas Mountains and Tizi N’tichka pass (2260m). Our day will end in Marrakech, where we’ll check into a riad or hotel in the medina for the night.

DAY 7: DISCOVER MARRAKECH SIGHTSEEING

After breakfast, you will embark on a tour of Marrakech, one of Morocco’s imperial cities, commonly known as the Red City due to its sandstone buildings. Accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide, you will explore the city’s most prominent historic sites, museums, and vibrant markets or souks in the medina. The itinerary includes visits to the Koutoubia Mosque, the Saadian Tombs, Bahia Palace, and Jardin Majorelle, a botanical garden that seamlessly blends art deco and Moorish architectural styles. After lunch, you will continue your Marrakech sightseeing by strolling around Djemaa El-Fna, the city’s main square and epicenter of Medina. As you meander through the lively streets, you’ll experience the bustling theatre of snake charmers, musicians, acrobats, storytellers, and magicians.

In the evening, you’ll have free time to enjoy a sunset view of Djemaa El-Fna Square from a restaurant terrace while relishing dinner. Accommodation for the night will be in the same hotel or riad.

DAY 8: END YOUR MOROCCO DESERT TOUR IN MARRAKECH OR CASABLANCA

On the last day of your 8-day Morocco desert tour, you’ll enjoy one final breakfast before it’s time to say goodbye to the beautiful country of Morocco. You’ll then be transferred to either Marrakech or Casablanca airport, depending on your departure plans. Our team will ensure that you have a smooth and comfortable transfer, taking care of all the details so that you can relax and enjoy your last moments in Morocco.
