3 Days Tour from Marrakech to Fes

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley

Our journey kicks off on day one, with a prompt 8:30 a.m. pick-up from Marrakech. Setting our course southward, we traverse the remarkable High Atlas mountains via the renowned Tizi n’Tichka, the highest road pass in the region. As we proceed, we make delightful stops to savor the breathtaking vistas, taking in the panoramic beauty of the Atlas, and catching glimpses of Berber villages. A pause for a rejuvenating coffee or tea adds to the experience.

Our adventure continues with a visit to the iconic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a site that’s graced the silver screen in numerous Hollywood blockbusters, including Gladiator, The Mummy, and Game of Thrones. This Kasbah also holds historical significance as a vital fortress on the old Salt Road, where caravans transported goods such as slaves, gold, ivory, salt, and silk from sub-Saharan regions. After exploring the Kasbah, we journey on, passing through Ouarzazate, often referred to as the gateway to the desert. Our path takes us through the captivating landscapes of Skoura, the fragrant Mgouna Valley, also known as the Roses Valley, and several charming Berber villages along the way. As the day concludes, we find our resting place for the night in the enchanting Dades Valley.

Day 2: Dades Gorge – Todra Gorge – Erg Chebbi

On the second day of our journey, we depart Dades Valley in the morning and set our course for Todra, a renowned jewel among Morocco canyons, known for its breathtaking beauty. Here, you will have the chance to take a leisurely stroll within the canyon, savoring the melodies of the flowing river and soaking in the captivating scenery. As we continue from Todra Gorge, we go on an enthralling journey through awe-inspiring landscapes, traversing numerous Berber Villages and lush oases. Our route takes us through Erfoud, a quaint town celebrated for its artful fossil factories, crafting exquisite pieces and sculptures. Our final destination for the day is Merzouga, with a detour through the Saharian Oasis of Rissani. Depending on your arrival time, you will have the option to unwind or commence your camel trek to the Berber camp, where you will spend the night in the desert.

The camel trek typically commences in the late afternoon, around 17:00 – 18:00 in the summer and 15:00 – 16:00 in the winter. This scenic journey leads you through the undulating dunes to reach the heart of the desert camp. Here, you will be treated to a mesmerizing view of the Sahara dunes and a captivating sunset. A refreshing mint tea will be served, followed by a delectable local meal in the inviting restaurant tent. As the night falls, the enchanting melodies of Berber music, played by local musicians around the campfire, will serenade you. Be sure to explore the dunes under the moonlight and gaze up at the countless stars above, a truly enchanting experience, especially on chilly, windless nights.

Day 3: Erg Chebbi – Ziz Valley – Azrou – Ifrane – Fes

On the third day of our adventure, an early morning awakening awaits, giving you the option to witness a magnificent sunrise over the desert. Following this, a delicious breakfast and a refreshing shower will prepare you for the morning camel trek back to Merzouga. There, you will reunite with your driver/guide, commencing the journey towards Fes. Our route includes a passage through Errachidia, the largest administrative city in the desert region. We will pause to enjoy a panoramic view of the splendid Ziz Valley, then proceed to Medilt, aptly known as the City of Apples, where you can savor a hearty lunch. Alternatively, you may choose to continue a bit further to the charming village of Zaida for your midday meal.

En route to Fes, our adventure takes us through the Cedar forest of Azrou, home to wild monkeys. Here, you will have the opportunity to capture the essence of Morocco wilderness and even feed these fascinating creatures, though please remember they are wild and may not always be present. The journey unfolds as we head to Ifrane, often referred to as Moroccan Switzerland, and from there, we anticipate reaching Fes around 18:00 – 19:00, with the exact time contingent on the duration of our stops during the day and your morning departure.
